Hai Xin tower - Construction Completion - Asian Games

Prospective Opening Ceremony

Since the very beginning of the project in 2004, the design has been developed and sorts of safety testing, like wind tunnel tests, fire- and load testing, has been completed. Performance-based approaches have been adopted to achieve breakthrough on the local regulations on planning, fire escape and structural design issues. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in November 2005 after which the foundation and piling, (24 x 4m diameter piles) have been constructed. The steel structure was topped out in May 2009, a speed of construction that can be said to be a tremendous achievement. The last hands are still being laid at the interior of the many public floors of the tower. The construction completion ceremony will be held in July 2010. The restaurants will open the 1st of October 2010. The tower is due to be fully completed at the end of 2010, in order to be fully operational for the 2010 Asian Games.
