The New Icon of China, called Guangzhou Ta
or Canton Tower, is the the world's tallest TV tower. The 610 meter tall Canton Tower was the center-point of festivities during the fireworks at the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. For more info on the project click here.

Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit and their practice Information Based Architecture from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, won the commission to design the Canton Tower Tower through an international invited competition in 2004. Located in Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Bay square has a mix of ingredients, with which

Overall masterplan and design of the 25 km infrastructure link between Shenzhen and Zhongshan special economic zone. Consisting of one superlarge 1.6km span suspension bridge, which will form the gateway to China;
a 500 m span cable-stayed bridge, a 7km

Selected as one of three winners in invited international competition for the Guangzhou Cycling, Roller Skating and Extreme Sport Center The complex exists of a 15.200 sqm Velodrome and Rollerskating arena, an
11.500 sqm extreme sport Center, a 6.600 sqm Office building for the Game

The purpose of this museum is to protect and display of the ruins of the Nanyue Kingdom, as well as show the development of Guangzhou in its 2000 year history.Mark hemel and Barbara Kuit submitted a daring design which combines a structural idea with an architectural concept. The 2000 year old garden is spanned with a multiple of vierendeel trusses that are combined to form a box. This box floats above the garden and holds the main museum spaces.
